By 2018, homelessness will no longer exist in Washington County. That’s the goal in mind of the budget panel for voting last week on setting aside $100,000 to the Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness. The chairman of the Interfaith Committee on Homelessness, Eric canon applauded the panels commitment to the plan.

“What we got is not a fully funded 10-year plan, but after approval, we will be launched,” said Canon, adding that he expected the board of commissioners to approve the plan, created this spring by a 100-member task force, by early June.

Although some people in the community may not believe this to be doable, optimism rides high that it will help a lot of people from getting off the streets.
